If It’s Spring It Must Be Green Crystal Season

After what feels like one of the longest (and for many us, most intense) winters ever, tomorrow’s Spring Equinox - conveniently timed with a Supermoon Full Moon in Libra - is so. very. welcome.

Windows are open. Closets are edited. Saging the F out of every room in the house. Check, check, and check. Tomorrow is set to be a powerful start to Spring 19 because full moons are all about releasing what no longer serves us. Letting go, clearing and cleansing. Making space for newness. In order to feel the full energy of this new season, it’s imperative to give it some room to move in. (I mean, Spring cleaning, right??)

One of my favorite ways to refresh and renew a space is with a Crystal Grid. I like to do one at every full or new moon, and I’m feeling like tomorrow’s deserves to be extra potent. The key to having a successful grid is striking the right balance of simplicity and power. Too much energy and your intention can get lost; too simple and you may be missing an opportunity to boost and attract energy. So for my Spring Equinox Supermoon grid, I’ll be anchoring with color (GREEN obv, the color of renewal) but incorporating some super powerful energetic cleaner-uppers. Try bringing in some (or if you’re feeling lucky, all!) of these green magic charms and see if your 1st day of Spring doesn’t just feel more Springy:

MALACHITE

Malachite is one of my all time favorite crystals to work with. I uncover a new quality about it each time I add it to a grid or a meditation. In addition to being highly protective, it’s first a stone for transformation. Its energy encourages breaking ties that are no longer useful, embracing change and taking risks. It does all of this while adding a layer of protection against negative intentions, creating a safe place for you to begin your Spring renewal.

***A word of caution - Malachite is on the list of toxic crystals due to its high copper content and must be handled carefully. I recommend using only tumbled pieces (as opposed to rough), washing hands immediately after contact, and never placing them directly into water that you plan on ingesting. Best not to let kids handle these either.***

GREEN AVENTURINE

Green Aventurine is another multitasker. It’s known as a stone of luck and opportunity (an ACTUAL lucky charm, so SPRINGY!) for its ability to increase your winning odds in literally any situation. (Job interview? Important project? Speaking event? First date? Green Aventurine’s the one.) Its energy carries optimism and welcomes change, and helps with releasing old patterns to make way for fresh new ones. I use Green Aventurine in grids for everything from releasing to manifesting and prosperity, so it’s a natural for tomorrow’s Spring Equinox.

GREEN CAT’S EYE QUARTZ

Use Green Cat’s Eye Quartz to invite some grounding, Earth energy in. Considered a Seeker stone (due to its internal Hexagonal structure), it’s helpful with finding new ways, new solutions, and new paths as a way of achieving that which we want but can’t quite see yet. Think of this like a fresh set of eyes on an old situation - sometimes all that’s needed is a little shift in perspective.

MOLDAVITE

Screenshot 2019-03-19 13.55.56.png

If you’re not familiar with Moldavite already, you may want to ease into working with this stone instead of jumping right in and adding it to a grid. It is a super super potent, ultra high vibe tektite (meaning it was formed millions of years ago from meteorites crashing into Earth - generally in and around what is now the Czech Republic.) which many say retains its extraterrestrial properties, and its abilities for attracting energy are legendary.  They say that you don’t choose Moldavite, it chooses you, and if you try to work with it before it feels you’re ready it will disappear. True story. I “lost” mine for months, only to have it reappear in exactly the same spot that I’d searched for it over and over and over. (Let that sink in for a second… the stone will hide itself if it deems that you’re not ready for its full power. I mean…….) Once you ARE ready though, get ready for some powerful clearing, protection, and open communication and acceptance of your innate intuitive abilities.

Having Trouble Sleeping? There’s a Feng Shui Fix for that.

We’ve all heard about the importance of getting a restorative night’s sleep, and the list of sleep-improving practices is long. Everything from not eating too late in the day, to getting enough exercise, to meditation and self-care routines, to cutting off screen time and blue light emitting devices a few hours before bed can all be key to getting our best sleep… but what if you’re trying all of those and you’re still wiped out and groggy in the A.M.?

It might be time to shine a spotlight on the Feng Shui of your bedroom. Sometimes even the most seemingly calm and restful spaces can have some less than ideal Feng Shui flying under the radar. Something as harmless as a plant or a piece of art can be blocking the flow of energy and wrecking your sleep. Good Feng Shui in the bedroom is essential to getting a great night’s sleep. When our bedrooms have good Feng Shui, we feel secure and protected, and only then is our subconscious truly able to relax and shift into Theta and Delta brainwaves. (You know - the super good deep and relaxing ones.)

Sound tricky? Start with these 5 super simple fixes and watch your sleep improve (literally) overnight.

Take Command of Your Room

Command position is a foundation of good Feng Shui in any space: it just means positioning yourself so that you can be aware of and respond to any activity within your space. In your bedroom, this means placing your bed so that you have a view of the door without being directly in front of it, ideally also not right under a window or backed into a corner. A headboard or wall behind the bed gives a feeling of protection and security, so aim for this too, if space allows. (Got a tiny 1BR in the city? No worries! Place your bed as best you can, use room darkening window coverings, and try adding a footboard at the end of the bed.)

The Magic of Tidying Up

Can we just pause for a moment and send a massive thank you to Marie Kondo? Just as important as command position is decluttering, and I’m not talking about just making sure that your laundry makes it off of the floor and into the basket. Piles of clutter not only create physical barriers to free flowing energy, they take up mental space. Our subconscious is still aware and active while we sleep, so although our eyes our closed, we are still feeling squeezed and chaotic by sleeping in a cluttered environment.  Keep your bedroom free of clutter or piles, keep decorative items to a minimum, resist the urge to use under the bed storage, and keep trash cans out of the bedroom entirely. Inspect every item in your bedroom with a critical eye, and only things that promote a feeling of calm or love make the cut.

Your Bedroom is an EMF Free Zone

We’re hearing a lot about this lately, but there is a simple reason for the disruptive effects of EMF. We as humans have our own EMF, as does every energy-emitting thing on the planet. So aside from any damaging radiation that may be given off from our devices, when we surround ourselves with electronics, we are bombarding our own frequencies with those of our tech gadgets. We’re out of synch. Just like a cell phone that will search for a signal until its battery dies, if we are constantly working behind the scenes, we are not allowing ourselves to switch off and restore. We keep ourselves in a state of energetic activity and eventually run ourselves down. It’s a no-brainer that keeping mobile phones out of the bedroom is a must, but the same goes for laptops, TVs, and pretty much all of our gadgets. (Yes, voice activated speakers - I’m looking at you!) Ready to commit to EMF free sleep? Great! Take it a step further and put your WiFi on a timer so that it shuts off overnight.

Art Direction

Now is the time to be your own toughest editor. Consider every photo, painting, or image displayed in your bedroom from a Feng Shui point of view. You may love that vacation photo of you in the Sahara Desert, but is it symbolically calling in the energy of a healthy relationship? What energy is it magnetically attracting into your bedroom? Same goes for images of relatives, very powerful or busy paintings or pieces of art. (Photos of the in-laws are first on the list! Display them beautifully in your main living area if you like, but just like actual in-laws, they have no place in your bedroom.) Keep images in the bedroom to those that promote calm, love, and partnership. Colors should be on the quieter side, and placements are best kept to the sides of the bed, instead of directly opposite.  Last, position any mirrors so that they aren’t reflecting the bed, or even better - move them to another room.

Keep Your Space Clear

AdobeStock_35400387.jpeg

...Both physically and energetically! Once you’ve removed clutter, positioned furniture, and edited technology and art, treat yourself to an energetic Spring cleaning. Open the windows, use your favorite sage spray, incense, or smudge, and begin to help any stale or old energy move along. Pay special attention to corners of your room, or areas behind dressers, cabinets, and doors. Consciously invite in new fresh energy as you make your way around the room, and set your intention that your newly designed bedroom will bring you calm and uninterrupted sleep. If sage isn’t your thing, try clearing energy with sound. Sound vibrations are - you guessed it - high vibrations of energy, so grab your favorite instrument, bell, or playlist and make it LOUD. Finally, close the windows, light a candle or use your favorite essential oil and diffuser, and settle in for some serious dreamtime.
